Colle Uncinano - Umbria Cantina & Winery

Our Family history begins when my Grandfather Domenico told me:

“Come Claudio, it’s time to help me to making wine!”

For me, it was an unforgettable day, that day.  I learned more that evening than all these days as a winemaker, I was 14 years old in 1970.

14 years passed and in 1984 I bought, together with my wife Lorella and my parents Francesco and Natalia, some fields in this amazing valley, just a few Kilometers from Spoleto, protected by Monti Martani and with Monti Sibillini in the background.
Not just fields but also an old mill from the 1600’s.  After a hard and long renovation, we now welcome Agriturismo “Il Molino Antico” with cellar inside for the aging of our first bottles.

Colle Uncinano utilises the Guyot System.  The planting system consists of roughly 2.8m between each row, and 1m between each vine.  With approximately 3,600 vines/hectare.
Elevation: Approximately 348ft above sea level.
Soil: Superficial sedimentary coverage, clayey silty and silty sandy.
Climate: Remarkable temperature variations between daytime and night.  The vineyard is located on the mountainside of Monti Martani (1,121m above sea level), which lends itself to frequent breezes caressing the land.
Exposure: South-east direction.
